Mallorca Swim Camp: Swimpros' Race-Prep Camp in a 50m Pool

July 29, 2026

Short answer: Swimpros runs its Mallorca swim camp as a summer race-prep camp in a 50m pool, for competitive swimmers aged 13 to 20. The next edition runs July 3 to 13, 2027 at the BEST Centre. It is deliberately timed before the key summer meets: the goal is not to bury your swimmer in volume, but to have them arrive at their championship rested, technically sharp and mentally ready to race.

Swimpros runs Europe's most popular performance swim camp right now. Tenerife is our year-round home base, and Mallorca is the camp we point at one specific problem: the swimmer who trains well all season and then needs the final weeks before the big meet to actually come together.

I am David Karasek, an Olympic finalist and Swiss record holder in the 200m IM, and the founder of Swimpros. Here is what the Mallorca camp is, who it is for, and how it differs from our Tenerife camps.

What the Mallorca camp is

The Mallorca camp is a 10-day summer race-prep camp for competitive swimmers aged 13 to 20, held in a 50m pool. The 2026 edition ran June 27 to July 7 as race-prep before the key summer meets; the next edition runs July 3 to 13, 2027. The structure follows the same Swimpros pillars as every camp we run:

  • Small groups: 1 coach for every 8 swimmers, with head coach Yul Munger in the water every session.
  • Daily confidence training: I coach the race-day mental game every day, because taper season is exactly when nerves get loudest.
  • Race-specific sharpening: starts, turns, underwaters, pacing and race rehearsal in a 50m pool, the format most championship meets are swum in.
The season is built in winter. The championship is decided in the last three weeks. That is what Mallorca is for.

Why race-prep is its own discipline

Most camps pile on training volume. That is the right tool in October and the wrong one in July. In the final weeks before a championship, the physical work is largely banked, and what decides the meet is freshness, technical precision and the swimmer's head. A swimmer who is rested but anxious will still underperform; one who is fresh, sharp off the walls and calm behind the blocks is the one who drops time when it counts. That is why the Mallorca camp pairs taper-phase training with daily mental-performance work, the same combination we use at every Swimpros camp, pointed at the meet on your swimmer's calendar.

The venue vs the program

Worth being precise about, as always: the Mallorca camp trains at the BEST Centre, an excellent, independent high-performance facility with a 50m pool. If you have researched Mallorca swim training, you have probably come across it. The BEST Centre is the venue. The camp program, meaning the coaching staff, the race-prep structure, the daily confidence training and the small-group ratio, is built and run by Swimpros. The same distinction applies at our Tenerife base, and the full explanation is in where Swimpros trains and who actually coaches.

Tenerife or Mallorca: which camp fits your swimmer

Simple rule of thumb:

  • Choose Tenerife if the goal is development: rebuilding technique, the 1:1 flume video analysis session, breaking a plateau, or a focused 10-day block in October, at New Year's or at Easter. That is the Tenerife swim camp.
  • Choose Mallorca if the goal is the summer championship: your swimmer has trained all season and needs the final block to arrive rested, sharp and mentally ready.

Many families do both in the same season, and the camps are built to stack that way: development in autumn or winter, race-prep in July.

Key takeaways

  • Mallorca is Swimpros' summer race-prep camp: 10 days, 50m pool, ages 13 to 20.
  • Next edition: July 3 to 13, 2027 at the BEST Centre.
  • Focus: freshness, race-specific sharpening and the mental game, not extra volume.
  • The BEST Centre is the venue; the program is built and run by Swimpros.
  • Rule of thumb: Tenerife for development, Mallorca for championship prep.
